Meet the Student Ambassadors: Deepika Manduva

Hometown: Frisco, Texas

Anticipated Graduation Month/Year: May 2026

Major(s): Biology (Pre-Medicine)

Why did you choose SUNY Poly? The main reason I chose SUNY Poly is for its Upstate Accelerated Scholars (UAS) medical program. Other reasons include the small class sizes which enables more individual focus for students and the guidance for resources and opportunities within my major.

Why did you choose your major(s)? What do you like about it/them? I always liked Biology and Anatomy since my childhood, and I wanted to become a doctor. I think Biology is a great major for pre – med students.

How would you describe your relationship with your professors? I have great relationships with my professors due to the small class sizes. I find this helps students increase relationships with their professors, ultimately serving as a way for your professors to better understand your academic needs and help you succeed.

Is there an impactful academic experience during your time at SUNY Poly that stands out to you? I think having access to great resources and opportunities such as research and internships is impactful.

Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? I work at the Center for Student Involvement Office as a Student Event Manager along with being a Student Ambassador for Undergraduate Admissions. I was also a part of the Theatre Club my freshmen year.

Are you a recipient of an academic or alumni scholarship from the SUNY Poly Alumni Association? I’m a recipient of the Wildcat Gold Scholarship.

What has been your favorite class at SUNY Poly so far? Genetics and General Chemistry Theory 2 have – so far – been my favorite classes.

Best experience (academic or campus life) at SUNY Poly so far? My best academic experiences are a result of having good relationships with my professors. My favorite campus life experiences would be the events organized by the Wildcat Events Board (WEB), such as the Casino Night.

After you graduate, what will you miss most about your time here at SUNY Poly? I will miss the community that we have here and the events that take place here.
